Chester Princess

John and I ventured over to Chester today for what we think is the last outing for Stanier Pacific 6201 Princess Elizabeth before she goes for overhaul.

A lovely sunny afternoon but bitterly cold, however that didn't stop the army of steam fans gathering on the platforms! getting an uncluttered shot of her was difficult but we managed it in the end.

That composition shows a real sleekness and elegance of the locomotive

Glad to see that your braving the cold Cliff, the second
shots great, looks very much like a painting. The buildings
at the back and even the tree really make the picture.

Thanks for the shots of the Lizzie, one of the most graceful locomotives of all time.

Older trains are so photographic! When they smoke too, that's a bonus.

Thanks Algi, Had to use tone mapping with that shot to bring out the dark shadow areas hence the effect.
