Cheap second kit?

The GX-1L is the same as the *istDL2 IIRC, should make a fine second kit. I currently use my DL2 as secondary body to my K10D and it works very well. Usually I leave the 18-55 on the DL2 and whatever specialist lens (macro or long tele) seems most useful on the K10D. Saves a lot of high speed lens changes when I'm trying to take a landscape and an Eagle flies over!

That was my general thought. I had a DL2 as a spare but my son "stole" it. He has since also "stolen" the 18-55! I was tempted to get one of the kits and give it to him so I could reclaim mine.

So this GX-1L is just a re-badged istDL2 : Is that what you are saying : If so i assume it is just surplus stock they are off loading

The Samsung DSLR kit is produced in conjunction with Pentax. There may be minor cosmetic differences and/or coating differences on the lenses but basically they are the same. Check the specs on the "new" GX10 and compare them with the K10D.

I have a Samsung GX 1S which is the same as a Pentax DS2 and is a very capable piece of gear. I used it until I got my K10D and now it is a second body as back up. This offer seems like a very good deal with the two lenses included.

when you consider that about 14 months ago I bought the same kit with Pentax badges on for £600 from a well known high street photographic retailer, and was very pleased with the deal I got.....

Going by recent prices you'd possibly get up to £80 on Ebay for the 50-200 and perhaps £35-40 for the 18-55 meaning that if you're just after the body it could be very cheap indeed.

I wanted the 50-200, so I've just bought one of the two GX1L's at MXV - now one left. If I sell the 18-55 as suggested above then I'm effectively getting the GX1L for nothing (based on the normal price of the 50-200 on its own). I can then use the GX1L for IR photography.
Just to put that in perspective, the Amazon price on the GX1L+18-55 is currently 570 quid: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000F3PNBI/interactiveda94-21

how can they possibly justify that price when the current price for a K10D with kit lens in Jessops is £100 less?
