Love nos 3 & 8.
Great capture in the last one thou.
I've always wanted this lens so will be waiting to see how you compare the 60-250mm.

Hopefully he's not getting up to celebrate the goal as he's probably missed the boat!
Cracking quality in the shots though.

Judging by how much dirt Sir Alf Ramsay is kicking up in 7 it did hurt
Great shots, and good to see it was done on a 'normal' lens.
these shots are definitely great. I was really hoping that the DA*60-250 would be faster focusing, but seems its not. This is really strange because if you remember we tried it on the K7 on the open day and it seemed to be pretty fast. What has gone wrong? I haven't done any practical tests with mine on the K20D but the DA*50-135 on it is really slow at focusing. Don't even notice that much of a difference in AF speed and its a bit disappointing . Was hoping that it would be much faster with the K7
In the shop you'll have been using a shot with contrasty and probably static objects.

You can see some of my shots at my Flickr account.
It isn't just that the area you're focussing on in these situations is often a shirt as you have a central player and a shirt will basically have no contrast in it? I'd have thought AF would sweat it out getting a suitably contrasty section on a shirt with a solid colour that's moving.

If you are using centre point focusing I think the same principle would apply with regard to shirts of the player or an object in the shop or even a moving player I would think.
Besides, in the shop it was not very bright and all we had were artificial light and I do remember me and Danny focusin indoors and then aiming at outdoors and then in again just to see how quickly it locked in and definitely there was a massively rapid AF locking during those moments.
Danny used the same setup for the DA*60-250 and he says was very disappointed with the hit rate. I dont think the light also would have mattered so much as the sky on these images also do not look as they were brightly lit with sunshine, even though not very cloudy I notice because I see a few shadows, but not the harsh ones.
Having said this, I might well be wrong in my assumptions. One thing is for sure, the SDM doesn't seem to be as fast as I expected, at least not with my K20

All these were taken with K20, ISO 400 at F8 to help with DOF. Used the Sigma 100-300 F4 to see how it would cope, as I've not been overly impressed with it, but found out why, must be my technique! Using it on a monopod absolutely transformed it, and I'm quite proud of the results! No rapid fire mode at all, just tried to anticipate the action, and I'm pleased to say, I have a very good hit rate of keepers, only about 3-4 out of focus out of around 400 shots!
This lens is also the fastest focusing lens in my kit bag, and I'm looking forward to being able to do the same again with the DA* 60-250. Initial impressions though are that it's not as quick on the focus as the Sigma, but may be better in sunlight, only time will tell!
Shot in JPEG for the 1st time in ages, and all the following shots are just crops of the originals, very heavily cropped in places.
Shots 9 and 10 I'm very proud of! Free kick was taken and took a shot a fraction of a second before ball hits boot, then turned round quickly to refocus on the keeper to see if he saved it, and I think the shot speaks for itself!
