For example, a wedding photographer should allow a couple to share their images with their friends online.
Yeah why not, just put the cost of wedding work up by 25% to cover the loss of print orders.

Quote:
To allow non-commercial use by individuals without the need to ask permission for that use
So do we take this to mean that joe public can download your pics, print them off and hang them on their walls with impunity, so why cant I download a piece of music and keep it for my own personal use, or download the latest movie and watch it in the privacy of my own home?

How does the law work BTW?
This is for example an English site on an English base server so it falls under English law.
But I ain't in England but in the Netherlands, so under Dutch law... which copyright do I need to apply to now?

It appears that it applies to music too- #
# To educate the population on the consequences of infringement both on consumers and rights holders.
# To allow an organisation to act as a collective licensing agency, which will license all works in a particular category (music, film, photography, etc.)
I guess that many people are already downloading images and music for their own use and it is impossible to police it. But lifting the restrictions will only serve to make things less clear in future when it comes to Copyright Law. As it stands at the moment it is much more Black and White even if it cannot be rigorously enforced.
