I wonder, are you at the lower limits of your flash power there Derek? Its just that I think they are a little too bright, perhaps a 1/2 stop less would be better ....(the last one seems a good brightness to me ... perhaps its just the more vibrant tones in the others).

Nigel, I wast down to 1/8th power on the flash. It drops to 1/128th. But I expose to suit myself. I don't ever meter. Ever.
I usually have an idea as to how I'm going to process and shoot to suit.
