Carshalton Rapids & Close-Ups

Just four shots here snapped recently with the very versatile little f35-70 macro ....

A couple of the 'rapids' at Carshalton Ponds, and two using the f35-70 macro feature, just close-ups of some tree details. All with the K7.

Those first two make the scene look icy cold.
C&C welcome.

Water that looks like cold, wet, flowing, noisy water (i.e. instead of silent cotton wool) - thank you, Nigel. Also nice detailed shots of the lichen. That is a great little lens.

Cheers.

Lovely water Nigel. Good job. Pity you weren't quick enough to get the salmon in shot

I agree about the water. Those woolly long exposures just leave me cold, never mind the water.
The colours in the last one are super.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

Thanks everyone , I was glad how that Tv worked out .... couldn't have done cotton wool anyway as I didn't have a tripod.

As you know Alan, when I'm out in the wilds of South London, my focus is really on spotting the Kingfishers and Barn Owls .... I find them very elusive usually, and I guess I just lost my concentration at the moment that the salmon were leaping as something moved in the bushes .... turned out to be a pigeon, but I remain hopeful for another day ....

Haven't seen any myself, but I understand there are kingfishers on the banks of the Wandle/Wilderness Island, about a 10 minute walk from where you shot the 'rapids'.

Wilderness Island sounds grand, but it's really just a scruffy piece of land at the confluence of the two arms of the Wandle, which is nonetheless great for wildlife.

Can't say I saw much last time I went for a walk there, but I remember it was early in the year - February I think.

One thing I did find interesting/surprising, is that a number of houses back onto the Wandle, and one at least had a rowing boat moored on the river. Never thought it was deep enough. It was on the arm of the Wandle that flows under the Carshalton/Hackbridge rail bridge.
