Good question Mike, there are a number of good ideas that tend to be 'forgotten' as models change.
The SFX had a raised housing around the CENTIC panel that helped to prevent scratches and glare - later models went with the 'smooth' look.
The small cap from the SFX remote socket fits neatly and securely into a purpose made slot in the remote cable F hand-grip - the cap from the Z1 does not, it's loose to say the least.
The SF and Z series cameras featured the flash hotshoe 'off-centre' by positioning it above the hand-grip, rather than on top of the penta-prism but the MZ series saw a return to the traditional layout.
Although I can see the logic behind the FAJ system, most people dislike the 'crippled' mount but I suppose you have to make changes if you wan't to remain innovative and not everybody will like them!

The later SLRs MZ6 and ist* came with wider straps, which includes a mini snap closed pocket at each end. I hadn't come across them before, but they are really useful for keeping the eyepiece and hotshoe covers in. Can't get much else in there.
My local camera shop always seems to have a number of these straps in the bargain basket, so I have now fitted these straps to all my cameras. All I have to do now is find some covers to go in the pockets. Heyho.
I don't know how exhaustible the shop supply is, but I'm sure they must have a reasonable source. Problem is that posting them will cost more than their purchase value, don't rememnber how much, but it's only a few quid.

I really prefer the Tamrac straps. They are lightweight and comfy.

My lens hood has another convenient little piece of plastic to loose.
The pop out bit so that you can use a polariser filter. Now that is odds on favourite to get lost soon. ( I do not have a polariser, but I am sure that I will loose the plastic bit any way)
ps the eye piece tends to have a will of its own, pops on and off when ever it wants.

Would you like me to get a pocketed Pentax strap from my local agent, and post it off to you. It may not be the cheapest strap you've ever purchased, but it'll have the functions you want. You're obviously in need, and I'd hate for you to lose your new plastic loser bits.
Cheers

personally I hate'm and never use 'em
My GF on the other hand loses everything, so here's what I do for her...
three short thin strips of gaffer tape (one to hold it together, two for good luck, just to have handy)and a film (anybody rember what film was?) canister taped to camera strap. holds your little bits just fine. velcro strips on lens caps and straps and camera bag lids to stick lencaps where they can be found later.

Well I said it would happen.
The little plastic insert in the lens hood (the polariser bit) has just gone walk about.

My old Pentax straps have two little pockets so that you can squirrel away your hot shoe protector and also keep your view finder cover. I hate to loose the litttle bits of plastic and putting them in your trouser pocket is the easiest way to loose them.
