Camera Lens DSO

Lasst week I decided to go full on camera kit with a deep space object. The target for the night was the Heart and Soul Nebulae.

So I attached my K-S2 to my SIgma 150-500. Then I slapped an 86mm Light Poluion Filter on. It was then mounted on my EQ5 tracking mount (not guided tho), and pointed at the cosmos.

The image is a 60 2 minute exposures (with a 1 minute interval to allow the sensor to cool down) at f8 and 250mm. Then I shot 25 dark, 50 bias, and 30 flat calibration images. For those of you that don't know. Calibration images are used for, and I quote... 'removing the unwanted parts of your images such as dust, heat noise, camera bias noise and amp glow, so that your final deep sky image is free of artifacts and imperfections'.

Not sure if I like the results... so at some point in the future I plan to reshoot the Heart and Soul Nebulae aagin.

Beautiful image, awesome outcome!

Just wanted to ask. Have you used the Astrotracer feature before? I was looking for a different type of mount at one point but never got around to it.

Yes, I did.... and l couldn't get on with it. It cannot handle bigger lenses without visible star elongation. Also you're limited to the length of exposure because the sensor can only move so far. I found it ok with lenses at 20 to 50mm.

This lead me to buy a Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer 2i Pro.
