Hi all

Does anyone know of an online listing for UK camera fairs? I had one for 2004 but it hasn't been updated for 2005 as yet.

Many thanks

Matt

Hi Mattie,
I am sorry I can't help. The wife has banned me from fairs. Spend too much time at Computer fairs and too much money at camera fairs

However, if you do find out about any in the East Midlands I would appreciate it if you posted them (I may be able to sneak out )

Kim C is not the only one whose wife complains! I went to a fair last Sunday with a crowd from Brentwood Photo Club and when I got home I said in a loud voice "Can you give me a hand with all this stuff I bought,Dear?" You should have seen her face! " Don't say your'e bringing in another lot of other people's RUBBISH" she shouted down the stairs - "Well, here it is Dear",and I pulled out of my pocket a £3 dioptre correction lens in a little box! Talk about a 'let-off'!

Hi all

I've had some luck, here's a link to a camera fair listing:
http://www.rolleicamera.com/protected_whatson.htm

I went to the Stroud fair on sunday. It was a lot smaller than previous fairs have been, to the point where it was held in the small back room rather than one part of the main hall. Unfortunately there was a distinct lack of Pentax gear! Still good to have a look around though, there was a Pentax 67 but way outside of my budget - £350 for the one with mirrror lock-up and a 105 f/2.4 lens. It felt great in my hands, much better than the Bronica and Mamiya 645.

For those in South West, I find the Frome camera fair is usually quite good (early April), plenty of good and varied stalls and a canteen that does a good fry-up! Kim, the fair at Wolverhampton in 2 weeks time is reputed to be quite good - how far that is from you? I think it's around the 100 mile mark from Lincoln, and the A46 (whilst improved) is still not the quickest.

Matt

(edited due to euphemistic typo - It said "I felt great in my hands" - I didn't feel I could leave that unchanged.....)

Hi Matt,
You're right the roads round here are not that good. However, Mother-in-law lives in Stourbridge and more importantly, my Brother is in Lichfield. Now what excuse can I use

Sue and I were there today, along with a few other ADAPS members. I didn't think it was as good as last year, but it was still interesting.

It was a pity that Pentax weren't there (yet again) and I really think they should be. Otherwise, the retailers will continue to have piles of stock on show of Canon and Nikon gear, when it should and could be Pentax gear.

IMHO in any industry, you need to have a presence, to be seen.

To think we possibly brushed past one another John and didn't realize it - if so, you didn't miss much!

I agree that Pentax really should be there but I must admit that I'm finding less and less each year that really interests me. It's all high-tech digital wizardry, very impressive and too costly for the likes of me but you do get a sense of what the future has in store.

If you want to look at the *istD or *istDS, then your local camera shop should be able to help.

Jessops will get one into a branch for you to look at, but I think they hold an *istDS in their branches routinely.
Best regards, John
