Hi All , had my ME Super for a few weeks now , love it, I would like to get a cable release for it, can't find one on e-bay, can anybody tell where I can pick one up.
Does it need a special one? I've had an ME Super for years, and a generic screw-in CR does the job just fine. I think I bought it from Jessops.Hi All , had my ME Super for a few weeks now , love it, I would like to get a cable release for it, can't find one on e-bay, can anybody tell where I can pick one up.
There are several generic ones on eBay.

Right, I've dug out my ME Super and CR. The shutter release has a hole in it, into which the cable release screws. The bit that screws in is just a way of anchoring the release, so that the metal bit that comes out when you press the cable release goes through the hole, makes the contact, and fires the shutter. Thanks for that Chris, I'm new to this stuff could you explan a bit more what I need or what to look for.

Now, here's a pic of the bit that screws in. Note that the thread varies in diameter. This is what enables it to fit into pretty much any screw thread in the release button. You just screw it in until it's tight enough to stay put, no tighter.

Anyway, it's a generic beast. This one is made by Rowi. I wouldn't get one shorter than the 50cm mine is.
This is probably the sort of thing. Not sure if I'd get it from China though !!

I expect Jessops stock them or similar,

Blimey, there's stacks of them on eBay, just type in 'cable release'.
Chris's link doesn't appear to work but this is the first item that popped up when I did a search:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/70cm-REMOTE-RELEASE-CABLE-4-Canon-Nikon-Fuji-UK-Seller_W0QQitemZ330109345555QQihZ014QQcategoryZ43443QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
They're all pretty much standard, just make sure you choose one with a locking function (saves you having to hold the cable during really long exposures)
BTW, just tried the first link again and it's working now

Die my dear doctor, that's the last thing I shall do!
