Cable Release

Planning on doing some birding and considering getting the CS-205 for my K20D when using a tripod but the SRS price was about £60. So I looked on eBay and there are stacks of alternatives at very low prices.

Has anyone used any of these cheaper versions?

I also came across this wireless remotethat would appear to offer an added level of flexibility.

Opinions?Thoughts?

The Yongnuo triggers are excellent. I've got two sets of the RF-602 which can also be used as a flash trigger therefore a better buy. Review link

Amazon have the 205 at £48.

I've got the 205, no issues with it, but the cable is very short. I found it necessary to make up an extension for use when out and about - especially for wildlife where I can leave the camera and retire to a hide.

I got a very cheap cable release from a third party, the low end Canons like the 400D, 450D, ect use the same connector so it's easy to get a cable release for your Pentax.

I just got myself this one. I have the remote, so only wanted this for catch-in-focus, so didn't see paying Pentax price. Several reports that I've seen rated many of the ebay clones better made than the original.

Chose this one for price and location. Ordered 1 morning, got email confirmation immediately, was shipped that afternoon and reached me 2 days later. Not used in anger yet, but seems a nice unit - and I can't fault the item - or the service.

Seems unnecessarily large for its purpose, but then the Pentax original suffers from that as well.

(Why the K20D remote doesn't do the task of the CS-205 cable release as well escapes me. Simple option to click once for open shutter, and again for close would have been so easy - and so obvious. Pentax programmer must have been asleep at the keyboard.)

I have the Hama Ca-1 from the 7 Day shop seems to work fine on my K20D!

I bought a Canon RFS60-E3 release. It was much cheaper than the Pentax equivalent at the time I bought it.
