Right I'll start again!
All I wanted to do was to wish everyone on the Digital Single Lens Reflex forum, Christmas Greetings and a Happy New Year.
Having said that, I look forward to seeing photos from beginners like me, and from the professionals, so that we can compare and hopefuly better our efforts.

Banff (with two "f") is very nice. The only problem I have with the place is the fact that it is about 4500 km. from my place, so, as you can figure, I'm not there every other days. The Rockies are more or less like the Alps, but everybody think ther is only one mountain chain, while there are actually about 5 or 6 chains side by side that cover the whole of British-Columbia and part of Manitoba. Very impressive. Then, if you go on Vancouver Island, you can see Sequoia. You can do your morning jogging going around those trees only once.

Your one up on me then Pentaxian, as English is my only language, hoping to get to see the Rockies in the future, what's Banf like as all tours seem to include it?Roscoe wrote:

Which Canadian bugs are you refering to?
English is not my first language (I was born a French guy, sorry if it hurts some), so it makes it harder to figure things like that. I guess I'm not the only one who did some head scratching. One doesn't swallow bugs in the UK,we leave that to the celebs, in I'm a Celeb Get Me Out Of Here!

What, I can't be sarcastic now?
Roscoe, nothing ever offends me, I was only joking.
The riddle is real, and it has a very intuitive answer. Much more intuitive than the OP acronym and puzzling sentence!!!

On my previous post, I made a huge mistake. I moved the Canadian Rockies two provinces east. I wrote Manitoba when I should have written
Alberta. But you don't have to fret, I'll punish myself for that gross error!

You really know how to make someone feel "uneducated"I just speak two and a half (my spanish is so and so) and understand three and a half. I had to learn to understand Hungarian, since my wife returns to her native language when she is in a bad mood. And, no, I won't tell you why she gets in bad moods.

You can turn on all the switches, or one of them. but you can only open the door of the dark room once.

Anyone in the darkroom trying to develop photos?
Throw one switch. If you hear a scream, well, that one controls the light. Throw the other switch. If you wake up with an ice pack on your noggin and the other guy has a bandaged hand, you now know that switch also controlled the light.
Otherwise, at night, throw a piece of photo paper under the door for each light switch thrown and develop to determine which switch caused the paper to go black.

Yet, my discomfort was created not by the acronym, but rather by the following sentence, which, IMO, is incredibly 'out of the blue'.
And yes, like Pentaxian I am also not english, and the five languages that I speak often confuse my understanding...
And to leave you with an interesting (and easy-to-understand) query, how about this.
"There is a lamp inside a photography darkroom. When the darkroom door is closed, it is impossible to tell from outside the room whether or not the lamp is on. There are two switches outside the door of the darkroom. One or both of the switches may control the lamp. It also could be that neither of the switches control the lamp. All you know is that the light bulb is currently off and that the lamp and bulb are in working condition. The darkroom door is closed and once you open the door you cannot touch either of the switches. If you can only open the dark-room door one time, how can you tell which switches, if any, control the lamp?"
Regards,
Nathan

Before I open the door, I turn switch A on for 30 seconds. Then I turn it off, turn switch B on and open the door.
If the light is on then switch B is the right switch.
If the light is off but the lamp is hot, then switch A was the right switch
If the light is off and the lamp is cold, then neither switch works.
Am I right :
Cheers, Steve
