You do have one big advantage. As I understand it, you can import by mail up to $1000 without charge for personal use. I wish we could here.

Just a few thoughts.

I would always but a body in this country. The hassle of sending it back would be too much to risk an import even though Pentax do have a world wide warranty. Lenses are a different matter.

It is worth checking which method the seller uses. KEH, B&H and Adorama all tend to use UPS. The couriers will charge the duty, tax and handling. If it comes in via Royal Mail, it is a bit of a lottery as to whether you get charged. I think it depends on how "visible" the declaration value is.

For some reason, items from Canada seem to get through more often. It might be worth checking out Henry's especialy their eBay items which are even better than their online prices. I always budget around 25-30% on the price for a comparison and expect to pay it but I have been pleasantly surprised so far by everything sent by Henry's.

I bought my DS body in the USA and Pentax UK repaired it without question.
