PS Elements is a program that needs activation. Therefore it is linked to your pc.
I know from personal experience Adobe alowes for changing software to a different owner. There is some paperwork involved. I can't imagine Amazon lower themselfes by selling cracked or warez versions. So I suggest you call or email amazon first. And when in doubt.....contact Adobe. They are very willing to help out.
Martin.

It updates fine, I don't know about being second hand, just a disc with the serial no installed fine and been using it since before Christmas.
I hope this helps.

You don't have to register your copy of Photoshop Elements. Of course this means you can't update it should it be necessary - if you get a new camera and need to update Camera RAW for it for instance, but otherwise there is little reason to register it with Adobe - just key in the code number and leave it at that.

There is a difference between registration and software activation.
Registration is optional, activation is not. You need to. Adobe is going the same route as Microsoft and other companies have. To prevent piracy.
I know it counts for PS CS2 and higher. I am not sure they do that with Elements 7.
Martin.

for several months, registration done, updated, and as I said before no problems.
I also use CS2 and I know registration for that is far more complex.
I had Elements6 before, and that came free with my printer.
I just hope this clears up any problems that may be left.

I haven't had to activate Elements 6. I just loaded the CD rom fed in the serial number and away it went. The Bill Payer then borrowed the CD rom and put it on his machine too. Maybe it is different with PSE7 but I doubt it.
I had assumed you would need to register it for updates, sorry if I gave wrong information there.
