My trusty k10d took a fall yesterday resulting in a shattered lcd. Can anybody recommend anywhere to get a quote for repair? I bought the camera from SRS but they charge to quote for repairs (I would also incur the cost of postage as I'm up north).

Anybody have a rough idea of the cost to replace it?

i would think for you to replace about £80, to be replaced and fitted £160.
i would contact the below,for a quote.
why not buy a k-5, or kr.

Thanks for the info; I'll have a look into that.

I'm not sure it's worth the cost of repair so It's likely I'll take the opportunity to upgrade.

www.johnsons-photopia.co.uk

they are the official repairers for Pentax in UK. If you want a quote download form on web, check the box requiring repair quote.
You can send them the camera and if you are not happy with the quote, they will return it, charging you only the carriage fees.
best of luck

Toby,
I have a K10D with a broken connector on the main board... everything else on mine is fine. It's been sat on my shelf in pieces waiting to have its fate decided

Like you, mine isn't worth getting repaired - but I'm on the lookout for a working main board. Prepared to pay a bit for parts

Your other option is to check your insurance. Some household insurances will cover you for accidental damage
