Brand loyalty

I recently read an article on the "Luminous Landscape" site about brand loyalty that I rather liked and agreed with (it is generally an excellent site). That didn't, however, make me any the less pleased that an excellent set of wildlife photographs published in this month's "Black and White Photography" was taken using a Pentax 67, and the winner of the under 21 category of the "Black and White Photographer of the Year" competition was using a Pentax MX.

Funny how often brain and heart are not quite in agreement.

It's the same with any group - the sense of team spirit is activated and therefore there are those within the group and those outside. When those outside say something negative, the sense of defending the group comes to the fore.

Things are rarely as clear cut as in the article though. The review in question sounds pretty damning and may have been too strong. Or it may have been a poor review. We only have the writer's word for it that it was justified!

I always fancied a Pentax 67, but I fear that it's too late now....maybe a 645D?

I still fancy a 67. There is something about the SLR on steroids look I like but that is, again, heart over head. Interestingly, the closing column in this weeks AP made much the same point about polarised opinions, this time concerning Leicas.
