Hello and welcome from South Wales, it is raining here also, pleased your enjoying the K10 It is an excellent camera and even better with those manual lenses which I assume are Pentax ones. Far better quality in those optically, than their digital equivalents. A good tripod is essential in the UK given the level of light, so good hunting on the tripod front.

I ventured into the world of DSLR's late last year and bought myself a K10. Regrets ? none. It's a solid piece of kit and as I'm out and about in all weathers the camera always feels capable of coping.

Hello Deryn and welcome to the forum. Don't get a tripod thats too light, I use a Gittos MTL 9351B which is very versatile. Hope to see some of your shots here soon.
The older I get the faster I was.

Welcome Deryn, you got a good camera for N.Wales with all that 'sunshine'

Hello and welcome Deryn. I second that re getting a tripod thats too light. I use a manfrotto 190xPROB. Just under 2kg in weight.

Sorry, lived abroad for too long, with no-one to converse with in Welsh, and I'm getting rusty...doesn't help having a dutch keyboard and no sensible means of putting a roof on the vowels...
I'm back home in 2 weeks, and hoping to go to Bodnant for an hour or two to see if the Laburnum arch is blooming...

Hi guys, and thanks for all the welcomes.
I live in a small village on the outskirts of the Snowdonia National Park. It's a beautiful place to live and there are plenty of photo opportunities. As well as the obvious mountains, rivers, lakes and the beach I like to head off into disused quarries with my camera.
Thanks for the advise on tripods. The choice is over powering but I will sort myself out with one soon.
The only other lens I'm considering at the moment is the 16-45 because I really want a wide angled lens but I'll save that conversation for another post.
