Nice one, I don't know if LR is any faster but it is annoying having the book & map modules that I never use there all the time , now I don't have to.

Just found out you can do the same thing from within LR by right-clicking on the module toolbar and unticking the relevant boxes.

The best way to speed up lightroom in my experience is to only enable NR and sharpening at the end of editing, just before export. NR and sharpening requires a lot of calculations to update every edit so it really slows things down in the develop module

That's (hopefully!) really helpful given LR4s sometime tendency for snailing.

How exactly do you change settings in LR for this??

I THINK the point is, if you just remove the buttons, the programs are still ticking over in the background. That's why you need to move the programs. I may well be wrong.

I've tried both ways and didn't notice any difference.

It's not a 'setting' as such but a workflow method. That's (hopefully!) really helpful given LR4s sometime tendency for snailing.

Each section in the develop module can be turned on/off with the switch on the left handside of it's heading bar, if you want to apply an edit, and then 'mute' it

If you have a dual hard drive set up then its usually best to pit your cache on the spare drive and increase it to around 50 gigs instead of the the default 10gigs. This speeds up LR considerably.

Never given the speed of LR much thought until this thread. Just set the cache to 20gig on a seperate hard drive and now its much faster It was only set to 1gig If you have a dual hard drive set up then its usually best to pit your cache on the spare drive and increase it to around 50 gigs instead of the the default 10gigs.
