Bad luck. at least the battery door was still intact.
Lurking is shirking.!

Perhaps it was someone malicious who popped the door open? Depends how secure it is...

That is indeed the bright side! I'd have been less happy if it had have been a proprietary battery.
But no malice in it Dan (Tyr) - it was just me who was not taking care of my gear sufficiently. Put it down to experience

That is one nice thing about the K10/20 with their latched doors. You need to lift the latch, turn to unlock and then pull. Wish more cameras had that.

Agreed, it's not a patch on the K10 in terms of build, but I knew that when buying it.

Having got to another likely spot for a picture, I reached down to grab the K-x. Battery door swinging open - empty racks, no Eneloops!
While I had a spare set, it struck me as odd that this had not happened before in very similar circumstances. I realised then that the tripod baseplate is normally left on my K-x, which means the battery door is far less likely to get snagged and thus opened by accident.
So somewhere in the big city, there are four lonely AAs lying either on a tram, or on a footpath. And that was my 'good' set too. The baseplate has now been re-attached.
