Tis challenging taking close up of flowers. I tried focus stacking in Affinity photo2.
Used k-3iii with 16-85mm lens and LED ring flash attached and a tripod
(The whisky method - drinking a tot or two then focussing manually and hand held and taking photos as you sway back and forth didn't seem to work. Not sure why!)

Just a plain black folder for a background.

Californian Poppy. The background was card, spray painted black - NOTE TO SELF: Do NOT use gloss car paint

Think I need to practice and need to improve, but a reasonable start methinks.

Thanks. I have a focus rail thingy BUT I must say that the ability to dab on the rear screen to set a focus point is a fantatsic piece of new technology and very helpful when trying to do focus stacking on a still subject

I make use of a tall black plastic waste bin to obtain a dense black background. Put it down on its side and mount your subject in front of it. The inside of the bin comes out really black 'cos it's dark in there!
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

Nice!

But beware - focus stacking is a slippery slope and you've put a foot on it. Soon, you'll be wanting to fill the frame with a single petal, then a tiny flower, then a stamen from a tiny flower... .

What whisky? (This approach appeals for some reason. Don't know why.)

You ain't done a REAL bee macro until the camera has looked through its eyes and caught a glimpse of its tiny soul .
