Black and White or Colour

I prefer the look of the colour, it just seems to give me a better sense of depth, plus it tells me more of story. If that last bit makes sense.....
Pentax K20D, Pentax 16-45, Sigma 50-300, Tamron 70-200 f2.8. Tamron 90 f2.8 macro, The Sigma Bigma.

Colour for that one. The sky and the leaves contrast nicely with rather pale colours of everything else.

I prefer the monochrome image. it is timeless and adds some tension to the shot. The colour version, for me, lacks the wow factor needed to make it an image I would want to see again and again. This is emphasised by the colour and reduced by the monochrome approach. In black and white, I see a totally different message, one of loneliness and desolation. I would look at the monochrome again.

That's a tough call, I quite like both versions, although the BnW wins in the end.

Hi Jack,
It is a nice shot but I find your BW one a little flat so I downloaded your colour version and had a go at a BW conversion myself. I made the sky much darker and upped the contrast a little with a small amount of curves adjustment. IMHO the image then has more "punch" (whatever that means). I can post it if you are interested. The only problem is that the lo-res colour image has some problems with banding in the sky.
I am sure our resident BW experts (Malo, where are you? ) would do better.

I like the b&w but I personally would have take two steps forwards to lose the two trees and the messy bottom would have not been in the shot

Like the the colour...Tells more of the storey that day...time of year...sunny,summer and dry...
