Bittern

Just thought I'd share some recent shots of a bittern (or bitterns). I believe there are three knocking about locally and these pics were taken on two separate occassions. They are very difficult to spot, being superbly camouflaged and they don't make any sudden movements.

I missed out on Saturday, when I got the fox pics. One turned up 10 minutes after I'd left. Then again, maybe it had been there all the time and I just hadn't noticed it.

As usual, Pentax K5 and Sigma 150-500

oh wow - they are amazing - such a perfect color and structure repetition of bird and background and such sharp and dynamic pictures - they are really impressive

These birds are extraordinarily difficult to spot which makes this set outstanding.
I've only seen one once in flight. I'll never forget it.
Best wishes,

Andrew
