Whilst the K100D Super is a very decent camera with a lovely sensor an upgrade to a used or new Kx or Kr would open up a whole new world.

1. High ISO, the 3,200 is not only very low on the K100D Super but of course not that useable either. Imagine how 6,400 will help your low light ambient shots. Lenses too slow ? Not any more (not always true but a definite improvement) !

2. 6.1 MP isn't a lot if you want to crop (more than adequate otherwise). More is always better and both the Kx and Kr deliver on that front.

3. In camera features (HDR etc.) - a whole new world of fun !

Now imagine how all the above is going to help ALL your lenses, it'd be like acquiring a new collection ! Go and try them out and see if you like the way they handle.

Have you considered rationalizing your lenses or even your entire system?

Well Gareth, I've had a good think about your suggestion, and after much internet based research, I've finally decided on the Sigma 17-70 f2.8 - 4.5. That's the first version, without the pesky battery draining OS. I've also decided to sell a few lenses to help fund this purchase, and put some cash in the "lens bank". They are the Takumar 135mm, Sigma 18-50 kit lens, and Tokina 28-70 f2.8. I'm undecided on the 35-105 as yet, as well as the 200mm f4. My future kit would hopefully include a 50-135 DA, and an A-100 f2.8 macro, or DFA version.
Thanks for the reality check. I look forward to having a camera bag I can actually carry.

Kevin, just read your post. I am keen for an upgraded camera body. My K100D Super only has about 6000 actuations, so maybe I'd better get some more use out of it before trading up. Nevertheless, I've still got my eye on the K-r.....

As I'm sure we would all agree, you need to do what is right for you. Personally I think you are doing the right thing. Before long you'll be able to pick up a Kx or Kr for about half the price they are now.

Have fun!
