Binoculars?

I was advised by a birdwatcher that you need to try bins before you buy, not everyones eyes are the same distance apart and not all bins respond the same when adjusting for this, even expensive ones.

I have a relatively cheap pair of Bushnell 8X10-32 zooms, I bought them mail order for around £45, I cant get the two lenses to converge to form a brilliant image and they produce a ghastly purple fringing if zoomed much above 20. they're not bad for spotting though

I suppose I should have just said "Dont buy Bushnell*

PS: do you need anyone to carry your suitcases

I bought my wife a pair of the Viking Navigator 8x42 (£119 from a local photographic shop), most people that we have loaned them to have stated how clear they are. They do have a small amount of purple fringing on high contrast areas but generally we have found them very usable.

Key point is try before you buy, we tried several pairs of similar binoculars before we chose these on comfort grounds.

Then found this review at Timesonline link for confimation, although advice at shop made up for missing the price point.
