That's one of your best yet, Clarky. Just shows you can't beat Pentax, though I'm sorry you had to buy non-Pentax-branded milk for the diffuser.

Perhaps you could have tried the bottom of an Asahi beer bottle.

Indeed there is, it's one of Japan's most popular brands. Asahi means "rising sun", I believe, so it is an auspicious name, and used by lots of companies.

That's a great photo. So, how did you end up fitting the "diffuser" to the ringflash?

Looks like you'll need to update your signature with "MBD" (Milk Bottle Diffuser)
Great shot

If you look carefully on the the black box protuding from the side of the ring. On the front is a small threaded hole which i suspect is designed for holding a difusser. Well i found a small screw to fit and just bolted it on.
I made it in 2 pieces so i can slide it around and cover how ever much of the ring as i need. I can also just rotate it out of the way completly. Works a treat
I will post a pic when i get a chance.

Fabulous shot Clarky, the diffuser seems to work a treat!

The sun's attempting to poke its head around the clouds here as I type, so I may see if it brings any bugs out in a bit.

How did your MBD affect exposure, what adjustments did you need to make?
K100D Super, 18-55, 50-200, Sigma 10-20, Sigma 70mm macro and lots of old lenses

Excellent Clarky! - and now for the newbie question: how do you achieve such an extreme out-of-focus backgroud at f/11? - is it due to a close focusing distance combined with the focal length of 100mm?
Best regards,
John

1 too 2 stops adjustment was all that was required.

Thanks for clearing that up Clarky - wasn't trying to be a nitpicker - just curious about what on earth could produce such a beautiful bokeh...and now I know

Yet another great picture mate.

I like the rainbow effect in its eye.

That diffuser certainly seems to have taken the harshness off - lovely shot, looks as though the full size would show plenty of detail.
