Some whopping increases there!

Questions: First,Are Pentax USA a seperate Company in the same manner as Nikon USA Are to Nikon?
Secondly, What repercussins are there for Lens prices on the Grey/Ebay Market (Kerso et al) (If you use it?) and Secondhand/New pricing in Europe?
Thirdly, Could it end up being blanket world price rise or is it just an adjustment to the weak dollar?
And last, Is it a realisation of the fact that for years the American Marktplace has payed substantially less for their Camera equipment, and this move levels the playing field for everyone?
So they just have to Suck it up and stop bleating?
P.S.
John I've gone and put this in the wrong forum I think!
Please move this to general chat/Lenses if you feel it's not specific enough, as it became a bit of a ramble...
Cheers Jules...

I don't think it is just the US. Check out the lens prices on SRS. DA 70mm Limited is now more expensive than the DA 70mm Limited silver edition. I think I may have bought the last black DA 70mm at the old price last month.

The price of the DA 12-24 is now eye-watering.

The 12-24 hasn't changed according to the link in jules post, though at £799 it is hugely overpriced. I got mine new from Calumet at £199 (in 2008, lots has changed since then)

On the plus side this will push up second hand prices so everyone that complains about Pentax for various reasons won't lose so much money now changing sides

I got my 12-24 from SRS last October and I'm fairly sure I paid around £599 for mine. Park Cameras are selling it for £630 now. It has definitely been hard to get hold of recently, so maybe the £799 SRS price is the cost for new stock.

Not a happy bunny.

Red Busa - Park have the DA70 at £389

I looked less than 48Hrs ago, a lot has changed

Not as bad as the US but it would seem as old stock sells and new stock arrives the price will rocket!

Knocks my Year long buying strategy to pot totally, Four Limiteds down to two I reckon

I bought a K5 with the 18_135 lens from Clifton Cameras last week and it has went up by £80.00 since then.

Lucky me then

I feel a bit smug (but also a tad embarrased) that I got an immaculate 21mm for £250 and the 40mm for £180. Gutted though that I was planning to get the 70mm £389 at SRS. Looks like that is not going to happen now......

And 441GBP from Adorama. So yes, you are correct as far as the UK price goes.

Best regards

Agree wholeheartedly on the 12-24, it's just not an 800 quid Lens, well at least not now, I think it used to be more did it not? Time moves on and there are third party offerings that are as good for less money, It's still a fine Lens.
However...
The 60-250 was the one that got me...
DA* 60-250mm
Old Price
$1295.95
New Price
$1999.95

Hasn't risen by the same proportion at least at SRS...
Old Price £995
New Price £1189
Very nearly 20% though

Just got mine about a month ago from them for £939, Last one at that price. If I had delayed though, I would have just have had to leave it...
Cheers Jules...

I bought my 12-24 from Park Cameras a couple of weeks back for £588. SRS were the same price at the time but didn't have any in stock.

I'm getting the feeling that someone's 'taking us for a ride'

Had these been the prices last year when I was swapping from Nikon, I wouldn't have gone for Pentax. It is a shame if that is going to be the level of the pricing for Pentax lenses from now on. Killed any chance for me going for a K-01...

I cannot see how the 17-70 F4 is just £150 less than a 17-55 2.8 Nikkor and twice as expensive as a 17-50 Tamron. Makes no sense... Glad I have a set of glass that I have bought in fairly reasonable prices.

And what does it say about Pentax in relation to other brands? A OM-D + a few very very good primes will set you back less than 2k, selling what I've got would probably net me a fair bit more than that and I am getting similar benefits but even smaller lighter body even better IS and some amazing zuiko lenses.

Hm.

Exactly.

My Olympus kit (two bodies; equivalent 28mm, normal, and portrait tele primes; kit zoom; EVF; plus extras) cost me about 800 pounds. I give up nothing discernible on IQ and gain on many fronts, including AF speed and accuracy, exposure precision, better white balance, smaller size...

This is game over Pentax, as far as I can see. WTF are they thinking?
