My interest in photography goes back about 70 years, and I bought my first Spotmatic, with the early version of the 50mm f/1.4 lens, when I was on sabbatical in Salt Lake City in 1965. Professionally, I have been a research biologist, though since retiring in 1987 I have drifted across towards maritime history. My wife switched from science to maritime history back in the 1970s and I used to accompany her, as her tame photographer, when she went on research trips to maritime museums, etc. I regard myself as a more-or-less competent photographer of museum exhibits, but I have absolutely no artistic flair at all and constantly disgust myself whenever I attempt an "art" photograph!
After a period in limbo, with 35mm Olympus OM cameras, and some point-and-shoot digitals, I have come back into the Pentax fold. My dear wife, to encourage me, bought me a K-x for Christmas (from SRS of course!). Now I am getting to grips with all the bells and whistles on a modern camera.
Regards to you all,
Martin
