Best option for off camera flash with the 540?

Posted 23/06/2012 - 16:52 Link
Hi All,

I have the curly sync cable and I know you can use the pop up flash to trigger the 540 but... I don't want to use either of these. The pop up is detracting and it effects the exposure (i presume).

I have some lovely Bowens lights and I use Elinchrom sky port triggers. But I want to use my pentax flash, especially as a back light. How do i do this?

Thanks in advance.

You could try the following

Set the 540 as Slave flash, when the Bowens fire they should trigger the 540.

Hello,

thanks for this but it seems my question is entirely in need of clarification!

I'll try again. I want to use my 540 as an off-camera flash. Get into outdoor strobist stuff. I don't want to use the wire or fire the little flash on camera. What do I need that will be compatible with the 540 to fire it off-camera?

Take care

James

You'll need to consult your Skyport documentation. I would think that you need a hot shoe adapter for the AF540FGZ that has the required socket to plug in your Skyport receiver.

Check the Elinchrom web site for accessories, alternatively look for a set of different triggers, try Cactus 5's.
