hello,

I wonder where the best deal is... SRS has free batteries, Clifton cameras has free bag + strap.. both at the same price with free delivery.

then hesitating between white and black, will the white one be harder to sell?

any opinion?

White may be take longer to sell, but I expect you could sell it for a little more if you found a buyer looking for one (I was looking for a white Kx recently, and would have paid a small premium for it - but not the silly amount people are asking!)

Personally I think it looks (and feels) great in white, feels a more 'premium' finish apart from the colour - who cares about resale?

I would like to see the K30 in Olive similar to my Kx when I replace that next year.
I would think you should be fairly 'safe' with a white one.

thanks!
and just realised it seems the adaptor for AA batteries isn't included with the camera, so I will probably go for white from SRS with spare battery... now have 4 x 4 eneloops that won't get used much it seems!

My opinion is that I can't understand why anyone would buy something based upon it's sellability. Unless you're buying something purely to smell on at a profit then surely you buy something based upon it's value of usage.

smeggypants - like a lot of goods, they lose value over time, but some become references and might lose less. Since we live in a world driven by planned obsolescence, I think it makes sense to think about how much value it will retain over time.
Luckily enough cameras (actually mainly lenses) do not lose that much value over time and there is a good market for second hand products, but why take the risk that it will. If you compare this to a car, which in most cases will have more than one life (i.e will be sold second hand etc..), would you buy a pink one if you had the choice between pink and grey?
anyway I bought the white one because I like the fact that it's different (and to some extend could justify upgrading from the Kx), not planning to sell it any time soon.
So to sum up: I dont think I am a capitalist, it's just common sense.

It was borne out by the GX20/K20D options. The Pentax K20D has retained its value much better than the Samsung, even though it's the same thing under a different shell. Therefore, when upgraded, the Pentax version has proven to be better value, as it is perceived to be more desirable.

Quite a lot of people bought GX20's when they were being sold
off by the likes of Jacobs for £300 3 1/2 years ago and almost
got there money back 3 years later when they sold them as SH

SRS are currently selling K20D's on ebay for £229
A GX-20 would only be slightly cheaper.

I recently sold my GX20 on ebay for £229.. I paid £499 for it four years ago, think it was £699 with an extra £100 off and £100 cashback from Samsung, excellent value for money.

I bet the people who bought Samsung 12-24mm's from Dixons for
£199 are still laughing!

The same lens with a Pentax badge is currently £739 at SRS
