There might be a button on the focus ring that when pressed allows you to turn the focus ring past the normal end stop. Similar idea to setting an aperture ring to 'A'.
OR, being a 'trombone' zoom, try pushing/pulling the zoom and see if it reveals a macro range.

I tried to see there is there was a button but there isnt one. I have pushed an pulled the zoom too it says there is a Macro but it is not revealing itself.

Although it will say macro it will be more of a close focus option as I don't think there is such a thing as a zoom lens with a true macro facility.
On the focus ring do you have a scale that allows you to focus a bit closer when you go into it?

it could be the same as the Pentax A 70-210, you can only turn the focus into the macro area at 70mm then you have close focus adjustment within a limited area, on the Pentax there is an indicator under the word MACRO and that is the limit of the close focus.

A 70-210 that can close focus at 50 is pretty special
No matter how many lenses I have owned - I have always needed just one more

Can anyone help please. I have been given an old Bell and Howell lens. 70-210 mm fits the K-5 perfectly and focus well manually. It says it has a macro but I cannot get it to work. Anyone got this old lens and how does it "go" macro
Any help would be a great help
