Before the Severn Bridge

spent a bit of time at the old ferry at Aust yesterday. apparently Bob Dylan was photographed here for an iconic Rolling Stone cover picture way back in his early days, on his way to a gig in Newport.

The ticket office/waiting room i can only guess as i never saw it in operation,but the slipway appears to run down from the side of the building

How easy it is to forget what a bind it must have been crossing the Bristol Channel before the bridge. We now take for granted the fact that a day out in the mountains of South Wales is as easy as visiting Exmoor, quicker, in fact.

Some unusual effects here. I like the slipway shot.

And just up the Wye on the bank near Chepstow is the wreck of the old ferry.

Yes it is Joe. If you look at goggle maps, it is on the Chepstow side of the river where the A48 and railway cross the Wye.
