Thanks for the critique, I was quite pleased with that one too although I nearly messed up the whole shoot by leaving the 2sec mirror up setting on.

He went and sat there on his own accord, sat for about 5 minutes even when I moved the lights around, just sat watching what I was doing. He loves lying on clothes (anything black), the velvet must have been too much to resist even though I had spent 10 minutes ironing and brushing it, even had time to change the lens and realise my mistake (see above).

No major surprises, they give off a definate blue cast but the auto WB seems to cope OK, I need to do more WB testing though. The one bad thing I have noticed if you put the lights close to a reflective surface it's like having 12 reflections, have to work on the diffusion a bit more, maybe get some opaque ABS parabolic discs made at work.
Presently working on MKII which I hope will look a bit more professional, using bosch aluminium profile.

Hint: If you want more diffusion, you must increase the distance between the light source and the diffuser

are these goosenecks stiff enough to support an AF240FT flashgun weighing a tad under 300grams.

I want to make a high powered dual flash macro rig and I have everything I need except the means to fix them.

So far I have 2 each AF240FT + cable + hot shoe adapter, cold shoe to tripod adapter, small ball head (Hama). The ball head holds the cold shoe with flash and the other end has a normal female tripod mount.

If you think these are stiff enough to hold the gun in just about any fixed position, do you think it is simple enough to fit a male tripod mount into one end?

I started this project because I want a system that is useable in the field but powerful enough to use very small apertures to get max DOF. I realise this has probably all been done before . . . but I haven't done it yet, and I'd like to have a go. I did see the ideal solution on Ebay a while ago, a unit made by Novoflex but it sold for stupid money.

Tied one of my AF360FGZ's (just over 300g with batteries) to the top of a gooseneck with a couple of these big red elastic bands that come with the post, it did support it quit well, I was actually surprised at how well it did.

Should not be a big problem to get some adaptors made to suit a standard male tripod thread (as long as you know someone with a lathe)

Thanks Brian. I ordered a couple of 200mm goosenecks and vases from a different supplier today. I though the short ones might support the weight better and I think 200mm + the ball head + the cold shoe + the flash would be long enough. They seem to be cheap as chips anyway so I don't mind wasting a couple if they don't work out.
