Ok , very gentle start........
How important is it to sell pictures. I know it is a dream of a lot of us(me included), If you know the answer to that question, I can provide some options and other thoughts.
Gentle enough for starters?
Martin.

I guess it depends on whether or not you want to actually produce the final print. Too much work to my mind.
Why not take a look at www.redbubble.com ?

Malo1961, well that's the sort of general idea, I have been selling stuff on and off over the years now, but not with this electrickery stuff.
I already have a Myspace sort of gallery thing and I could have set up flicker account, but didn't (have you seen the comments that folk leave, I can't handle all that bull :lol.
Why do you ask, does it add another level of complexity that I don't want to know about:
And yes that was a very gentle soothing start, but I feel that there is a very but, just round the corner.

It costs a little, but works a treat. Just make sure you learn the manual.
Great websites.... look at mine!

I "rolled my own", and in the end gave up and went with www.photium.com - excellent service and cost

photium look good but even their light option is £80 per year.Would have to sell a few images just to pay the annual cost?
Have you sold many?

Actually, my image sales have only been "in person"! People seem to prefer to see the actual product, rather than have it on the web Have you sold many?
I've had many positive comments about the Photium site, but nothing sold through it yet.
However, I will say that the ease of use of Photium is second to none
If you're going to roll your own, then the SimpleViewer tool is very good - free too! I started with that. It's still there - check the gallery at http://www.photon.me.uk/mattmatic/
& http://www.airtightinteractive.com/simpleviewer/
The folks who did SimpleViewer have more options now:

(AutoViewer looks nice.)
They are all loaded through XML - which can be dynamically generated too via SSI or PHP code on the server.
Hope that helps!

Do any of these, other than PhotoReflect, allow you to lock or password protect specific galleries (each with their own password)?
PhotoReflect is nice for free and has some great features, but the software you must download in order to create your web site is large and no longer works on my machine. It is just too much hassle for me to uninstall and re-install to try to get it working again.

How do I get all these to work together, to end up with a reasonable looking web site and with the possibility of selling some of the images with paypal and the like etc.
Now see topic title and I mean it, keep it in layman terms please, cos I know there is some clever techy folk about this forum, I have seen some of the photography replies to the odd question.
