Banned subject matter

If we banned everything that was deemed boring there would be nothing to photograph. Personally I can't stand the glut of barn door /old building shots that seem to be quite fashionable at the moment but rather than wanting to ban them (seems a good idea to me) I just keep quiet and let others that like that sort of thing enjoy them.

There are no boring subjects, only boring photographs! There are a lot of very boring landscape photos in the gallery but I would never want to ban landscape photography. I find steam train photos very tedious as a rule, but occasionally one comes along that blows my socks off. One thing I agree on is that we all need to make our photos a bit more interesting and memorable, and filter out the real yawners - especially in the gallery section of this site.

Well said Pentaxophile.
I have to say generally I am not a fan of mono (now there's real heresy ) but I would not ask for them to be banned. Different people like different things - isn't that what the forum is about? I cannot see who's interest it would serve.
As to the swans, if they were carrying coconuts, they would be the African swan.

I think Ken is being a tease.
I loath bird shots - can't stand birds in general (unless hanging from the cat's mouth) and have seen perhaps two photographs of birds with any merit at all. But I wouldn't ban them as it gives a lot of people a lot of pleasure and surely that's partly what a hobby is for?

If you can't say something nice about Pentax, you won't say anything at all.
Apparently.

I often wonder what would have happened if colour technology had come first

Sometime I wonder if not commenting on photographs is worse than criticising them. The photographer knows everyone thinks their picture is crap but doesn't know why.

Someone would have invented black and white photography and he would have been hailed as a great avant garde artist.I often wonder what would have happened if colour technology had come first

If you don't know why that's THE BEST time to take pictures, you should stop right now...
