This is the first time since I bought this that I've had the time and the weather to try it out. Unfortunately due to the high, gusting wind there were no amenable insects to photograph.

Clematis Buds with the KAX and M 50mm f1.7 - effectively a 100mm macro

Tulip with the KAX and M 50mm f1.7 - effectively a 100mm macro

Tulip with the KAX and Pentax M 135mm f3.5 - effectively a 270mm macro.

These are full size - no cropping done and no real PP other than slight sharpening. Only issue I have is that I seemed to get dust spots on the M 50 images which I can only guess comes from the dust in the lens. These don't show when the lens is used on it's own. They didn't show with the M 135 when used with the KAX.

That's doing a great job then! I like the colours, punchy, and you don't seem to have lost any contrast with the converter. Sharpness looks good too.

Very nice, I'm almost tempted to buy one of those converters

Greg/Stan,
Thanks - I'm impressed with it - though it does seem to reveal the dust spots in my M 50mm f1.7. Though that is easily fixed in PP. Thanks to Geordie01 here I've managed to get a set of instructions for it - so I'm now using it properly. It is apparently the same as the Vivitar 2X Macro Teleconverter. My copy will work correctly with A lenses with manual focus but you can get a cheaper version with no contacts. Here's the clematis a week on - again there's no real PP - other than the dust spots. No cropping - this is the original image. It was wet and windy here today - this is hand held.
