Availability of Sigma lenses

I think a sudden upsurge in worldwide demand for Pentax-fit lenses has caught some manufacturers out. Add to that the two aforementioned robberies and Sigma may well have been knocked back a bit in terms of availablity.

Sigma UK told me to email them on Fridays to ask about availability as that's when they open the latest shipment to see what they've got from Japan. You can then contact your friendly dealer to get them to order one if they have stock over and above that allocated by their main dealers (or join the queue by pre-ordering from a popular dealer).

I had a conversation with Warehouse Express this week about the Sigma 10-20 and was told that they don't expect to see anymore for at least 3 months!

Try Devon Camera Centre http://www.devoncamera.co.uk/index.cfm for the 10-20 Sigma. Not quite as cheap as some but they had stock and put one aside for me.
Next day delivery.
There is a substantially cheaper guy on eBay who has stock but they are gery imports which isn't always a problem. Even the guys at Devon CC agreed that it needn't be a problem but their's are UK sourced.
Top blokes!

It's well worth the wait - a fabulous lens.

Being into landscapes and at a price I can just about afford I am convinced it's the lens for me but getting one it another matter. I've tried Devon Cameras and they're out of stock too.

How about trying B+H in New York? They have a UK contact number and i hear that they delivery very quickly. Don't forget to take into account any import duties and VAT that you may have to pay on delivery.

Thanks John. I'm going to have another look around during the coming week and if all else fails I might just give B&H a ring. I must admit I would prefer to buy in the UK if only because of the costs involved to return to the States should there be a problem. Being an old bu99er I've got very set in my ways

Another seller this time in Japan. I haven't used them but do know several people who have and can recommend.

I've had the 10-20 on order with WarehouseExpress since some time in August.
If they've all been nicked doesn't that mean they'll eventually crop up on a well known auction site ?
I might try a foreign purchase, but I know that some people have needed to change the 10-20 due to centering problems, and that would probably be a nightmare if it was from the US or Canada...
Edited to add: the foreign prices mentioned in the links above come to more than the UK price even before shipping and duties are considered...

I have to confess I've conceded defeat and ordered a Sigma 10-20 mm for my Nikon D80. I'm reasonably convinced we ain't gonna see any Pentax fit 10-20's in these climes this side of Christmas.

I have been 'promised' some stock of this lens which should be with me early next week... I have quite a back order list, but I should be left with a couple free if anyone is interested...

I remember reading a few months ago about lengthy delays sourcing products from Sigma - something about multiple robberies from the warehouse IIRC. Any idea if there are still problems at the moment? Only I've been trying to get hold of the 10-20mm zoom for a few weeks now and can't find supplies anywhere. Cameraworld in Central London, where I tend to buy all my equipment from, have had problems getting any supplies for a while and SRS also lists it as 'on order' on their website. Any idea what's going on?
