Nice shot with great colours. Good combination a K30 & M50mm f 1,7!

Lovely colours and bokeh. That is a nice portrait lens. Shame about the branch growing out of his head: exactly the sort of thing I'd do and not notice at the time.
Best wishes,

Andrew

Lovely shot and the branch can be "invisibly removed" easily using a clone stamp in PS

I don't like too much post processing but in this case it is such a great "Autumn Portrait" with lovely colour, composition and subject, it is worth it.

Regards

It's a classic clanger, that's for sure. Such a pity because you've got so much else working beautifully really .... Pose, angle, expression, focus, DOF all great. Its so easy not to see this issue at the time, focused as we are on engaging the subject and focusing (especially with manual).

You might salvage things with the clone tool .... Because its the bokeh OOF area it won't matter if you reconstruct the background ... I'd use some foliage and leaves from the right and above the head and clone that in above the head. Use small circular brush movements so you don't repeat a duplicated pattern immediately beside itself.

Is the top of the image actually necessary? For me, the bright sky and bokeh there are both features that distract from the lovely shot of the boy. If it were mine, I would first do an 8 by 10 crop to just above the lad's woolly hat, before cloning out what remains of tree above it.

Cheers.

I like this - colours, composition etc & background - all lovely. I hadn't noticed the tree-out-of-head clanger until it was pointed out!

It was the ONLY thing I first noticed! If enough viewers respond similarly then it becomes a problem.

That is a real improvement. I concentrate on your lovely son now, not on the bright sky or the stick.
Print it, frame it!
