These ducks are living by a pond not far from my home. According to Wikipedia, the English name for these birds is Muscovy Duck. Although most common in the Americas, species are also found in Norway.

Shot in JPG with K200D and the 18-55 mm kit lens.

Which one is the better, and why?
What could I do to improve these images?
Best regards

First one to me.
No distracting reeds in front of it plus the exposure is much better.

We also get them in Spain by the way

I like the first one, as Mike says the exposure and the composition is better.
No2 is a little over exposed in the white areas around the head.

We have these Muscovy Ducks here in Aust also. One lives in our local pond, Its name is Margaret and comes when you call her.

I agree, exposure on the first one is better, as is the composition.

All this talk of ducks on local ponds reminded me I took this shot in New England last year

Thank you all for your time. I see your point about exposure and composition. Will have to try again.

Interesting sign, impotentspider. I understand you will be prosecuted if leaving a duck or goose behind...
Best regards

I have been trying to think of a pun on "shed" but failed so far...

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.
