Auto Chinon F/1.4 50mm - worth anything?

I have no experience of this lens, my advice would be to check out the items on Ebay and make a judgement.
I just watched a Chinon CS4 with the same lens plus 3 others and a flash fail to sell at a £10 starting price.
That said if the lenses had been listed separately as PK fit the seller may well have had some takers.
In the end it is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it

You'd sell a pentax manual focus 50mm f1.4 well enough, but I doubt that a Chinon would go for more than a fiver, if it went at all.

I'll probably put it back in a box and forget about it. Thanks for the info.

At least try it. Most 50mm primes, whatever the manufacturer, are pretty good.I'll probably put it back in a box and forget about it. Thanks for the info.

It's a reminder of what happens to second-hand values if the wrong name is on the front of a lens.....

I have a Chinon f1.7 Manual. I put it on my K10D and the camera will not take a shot in any of the modes, Tv Av Program, manual or anything. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I do not want to leave it in a cupboard as my wife bought it for me as a surprise while I was in hospital. She doesn't know anything about cameras just that I was looking for a 50mm f1.4/1.7 before the accident.

Go into the "Custom" menu of the K10D and set "Use of Aperture Ring" to "Permitted".I have a Chinon f1.7 Manual. Now you can use the aperture ring to shoot with, however, there are a few handling points to note:
1) In manual mode you meter by pressing the green button after setting the aperture on the lens.
2) In Av mode the lens will always be wide open (f/1.7).
3) No other modes will work properly.
4) The aperture value will always show in the viewfinder (and EXIF data) as "F--". This is because there's no electrical connection between camera and lens so the camera won't know what aperture value you've set.
5) When you switch the camera on it will ask you to confrm the focal length of the lens; scroll to "50" and press the OK button. Once you've done this once the camera will remember the last setting used so you can just ignore the prompt in future (unless you buy more MF lenses and change between them regularly obviously). This is for the shake reduction.
6) Enjoy your lens! Chinon 50's are usually capable of very good results.

These were very sharp in the centre (possibly better than the Pentax f/1.4) falling off considerably towards the edge. Not sure what the Bokeh is like, but it would be worth trying wide open on something like some flowers.

Is it worth anything? Don't want to go to the hassle of selling it, if it's only worth buttons.
