Australia Day

Australia Day was on Thursday. Scorching weather (for Perth) at 40'C.

A world record attempt at Cottesloe Beach succeeded in getting 2088 swimmers hitting the waves on thongs (air-beds).




The beach was busy but not as busy as last year due to the heat.




A lot of events on in the area to celebrate including a huge firework display (Skyworks) in Perth over the Swan river. This display was accompanied by a large thunderstorm.

I met a lot of people and managed nearly 800 shots for the day. One lady in particular was a "must talk" to. She was using a Pentax 6x7 at one of the concerts in Perth. link

Another lady I got to know was covering the same concert. She is the first indigenous photographer that I have met. Great character. Very professional in her manner. link

A good day and had the opportunity to meet a lot of people.

Nice shots despite the upsetting nature of them

At least you dont have to mow the grass twice a week Algi, if I left it it would come in the door and strangle us!

I'd forgotten that grass grows in warm weather
It didn't even grow here last summer
