Aurora lights or just a cool sunset ?

All images with the Pentax K5ii & Sigma EX HSM f3.5 10-20mm

So popped to my local beach last night as there was a red warning of aurora lights and it said it was high around half 9 so I popped along to see what was occuring, if at all any action. On the way down to the beach, after stopping off to shoot some birds, I could see there was starting to get some good colour in the sky:

So I hung fire for a bit for the light to drop a little and then yanked out the big stopper for some long exposure images:
