Aurora

I am not sure if anyone else decided to have a go at this. But with the aurora on Saturday night, it did look as if we were going to be clouded out, and we were going to miss the event. But we were lucky in that the clouds cleared a hour or so after dark, and we were in business. I did take a fair number of images, but I have posted a handful of them.

The first image is looking towards Christchurch, and I like it as I have captured the Milky Way in the image as well.

The next two are looking south over our local town.

The last two are looking east, and I do like the colours of these.

These images were taken with a K3 and a Sigma 18-35mm f1.8. Off the top of my head, I think that the exposures were at 6 seconds, and at f2.2.

Armed with a K3, some M, A, FA, DA, and star lens. With an eye open for "just one more lens".

Good stuff mate. I'm up in Palmerston North and it was epic here.
Started slow but when I checked later it was very very visible to the naked eye.
Cellphone only that night and was basically too bright for the sensor there was so much light from it in the sensor range.
The next night was fully clouded over, such as these things go.
