Asking for help

I feel that this is a big ask, but if I don't ask I won't know. Is there anyone amongst us who has a handle on sources and setting up PC hardware?

I'm looking for someone in the UK who would be able to source kit to set up a small data centre. I have absolutely no budget at all and realistically I can only provide transport costs, beer and food. It will be based in Central London in a small venue which I may be able to offer for photo shoots at some point in the future (all depends on building my relationship with significant others)

Can anyone offer some help, or perhaps push me lightly to one side and remind me that this is far too much to ask and massively off topic for a Pentax forum?

Probably the best source for equipment would be a computer fair, I assume you have them down there? you often find the odd trader selling on redundant business equipment, its not going to be state of the art but if your budget is limited then your not going to have a lot of choice.

Might be worth sourcing one out, and you might get value out of your admission fee if you glean a bit of info from the traders.

Thanks spider I hadn't thought of that, great idea I'll have a nose around - there must be loads of computer fairs around London. I know of one that was (is?) in Tolworth which is not too far from home.

I hope Leeds is still a fun place to be - I spent 4 years up there in the early '80s as a student. Yikes! A long time ago. Last time I went up there must have been 10 years ago! And it had changed massively - at least the area around the Armoury (which was fabulous).
