Sorry, my mistake; you are correct of course. I even referred to 4/3 in a previous post.Pentax make APS-C format DSLRs whereas Olympus make 4/3 System DSLRs, so I expect this was the reason for the comment about the formats being different.
The point about earlier Pentax DSLRs remains, however.

I haven't stooped to personal remarks, Robin. I have attacked the fact that you have reviewed something you hadn't seen, and formed spurious conclusions as a result. If it is sad and pathetic to attack flawed methodology, then so be it.
I say your conclusions are spurious because other people who have actually owned and used the camera have not reported that they have an issue with the things you mention. No doubt the camera is not perfect, but viewed as a photographic tool, rather than as a design exercise, it seems to work just fine.
Perhaps your blog should be directed at designers and people in ivory towers, rather than at people who take pictures.
On here, we are more interested in how well something works in practice, rather than in your imagination.

No, it doesn't. Shake reduction was not present in the early DSLRs.The point about earlier Pentax DSLRs remains, however.

Not true. Some have found exactly the same problems in person that I say your conclusions are spurious because other people who have actually owned and used the camera have not reported that they have an issue with the things you mention.
I could easily see by looking at photos of the camera and comparing it to the bodies I have. Some have even returned the camera in dismay, as a result of the poor ergonomics. (Other reasons too, but several have singled out the handling.) Read around the forums and you will see.
But perhaps you think I should spend 1300 euros for the privilege of writing a blog article.

Almost any camera works "just fine" -- that is not the point. I want a camera that is significantly better than before, in order to justify parting with a significant chunk of money. Perhaps you are richer or more easily pleased. Fair enough. No doubt the camera is not perfect, but viewed as a photographic tool, rather than as a design exercise, it seems to work just fine.

Tell you what, George, you write the blog you want to and I'll write the blog I want to. Fair?Perhaps your blog should be directed at designers and people in ivory towers, rather than at people who take pictures.
I take tons of high quality photos that please many people. Unsolicited offers have started to come in for professional work, even though I've only had a DSLR for a year and a half. Examples of my work are not exactly hard to find on the web. My aim is better photography through better tools, practice and experience.
But, yes, I also have an imagination. I think it helps.
P.S. Your assertion that you "haven't stooped to personal remarks" would ring truer if your post didn't directly insult my writing, the purpose of my blog, my motivations and, indirectly, my photography.

That does not mean smaller cameras are not possible. The same argument was used to justify the larger size of the K10D and K20D. But, funny, my K100DS is smaller and still has SR.
Shake reduction was not present in the early DSLRs.

Next upgrade - K20 perhaps if I can justify it but first I have a couple of lenses in mind!
A sensible approach. Bodies come and go, but good glass lasts forever. Within six months the hype machine will be spinning the glories of a new body with some flashy feature, while the FA77s or Taks of the world will be quietly assisting in some great photography.Next upgrade - K20 perhaps if I can justify it but first I have a couple of lenses in mind!
That said, I upgraded from the K100DS to the K20D and find it a much nicer camera to use. Size and weight excepted of course.

Been reading this thread for the past couple of pages, and I have to agree with Mike-P first of all, although I am new to DSLR but common sense dictates that I would not take very seriously at least not to the point that it would sway me enough to consider buying something based on someone who has reviewed it without having used it.Unsolicited offers have started to come in for professional work, even though I've only had a DSLR for a year and a half. Secondly, and with due respect rparmar, that comment you just made above carries all the hallmarks of vanity and arrogance, I can't even see a reason why you felt the urge to mention it.
What George has been refuting from what you wrote in your blog, quite rightly so, are points that most people who would read it would also raise questions about the reasoning behind what you are saying.
I don't own the K7 but I have used it enough to know that I definitely do not agree with your points about it. And probably if you used it, long enough to try and test all that it has to offer you might change your opinion and probably review of it too.

I think one thing has been forgotten. There's nothing quite like a new camera or lens to get you out taking photos!

I got the K10D and rather quickly using my IstD was irritating. Probably my favorite characteristic for the K10D was I've never had to do a wet clean. I did a wet clean four or five times a year with the IstD. It was also more convenient to use and had more flexibility in assigning tasks to buttons and dials.
I just ordered a K20D. I'm not expecting it to be a big step from the K10D but with the K7 out the price was good, it has a few features that might be nice, users seem to like it, so I'll go with it.
So, for the specific question, no, I haven't upgraded or changed a digital camera and had regrets. Now with film cameras, I did.
People who buy DSLRs for some reason other than photography I think they are frequently disappointed.
