Any thoughts/experiences with the DA 50-200mm (non WR)?

Hi everyone,

Some of you may know that I'm looking for a long zoom for the odd football game, and don't want to spend much as i don't use long lenses much.

I came across a used DA 50-200mm (non WR) today for £50, and was wondering what everyone thought of it? Mainly sharpness wise as other things I can sort out in post processing. Is it the same as the WR version optically?

It seems to get mixed reviews online and it seems alternatives are better - but it sounds like its mostly value for money?

Thanks in advance,

Vince

It's a great little lens and can't be beaten for the money. I believe it is the same optical formula as the WR version.

I've very impressed with the sharpness of my copy. For £50 it would be hard to beat if it's a good copy.

I find I use it more than the 55 -300, mainly because it is light and compact. Much better to lug up mountains.

I liked it so much I sold it, to get the WR version when it came out.

I find it not really long enough for football..I have taken mine to a few premiership games. 55 - 300 is better but still not perfect.
