Any Photography Games For Kids?

I have recently purchased a Pentax *istDS for my 8 year old...

I hasn't arrived yet and he has no idea...

The plan is to give it to him on his Birthday treat at Donington in a couple of weeks at the Dunlop Touring Car Championships (although his Birthday was in fact a few weeks ago... He did get presents!!)

That day is no problem... He's crazy about cars and will be happy as Larry... I'm going to to take him to get prints afterwards of his best shots for the house and his room and he can do his PP with is grandad who is pretty much housebound through ill-health but a computer wizz!

Just wondered if anyone new of any photographic games or challenges for other days out (Nat-Trust - Eng-Heritage - walks etc), suitable for an 8 year old... ?

(and me and theMissus... K-x and FujiHS10)

He will have 2 lenses (FA35-80 & FA80-200) to use with the *istDS to start with... (I have a whole bunch of manual 50's and 28's I'm happy for him to abuse as well)

Cheers
Dave

just pick a challenge or subject and do it with him.

ie juxtapositions, trick photography, find in faces in everyday things..etc...
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

How about target practice?

Using the optical VF take a picture of something, then from waist level, point and shoot the camera at the same object and see how close the two shots are - closest wins!

Using the 80 to 200 lens on 200 would add difficulty!

Light Trails

One I have done, good for dark nights (or a very dark room) - lock shutter open, write or draw something with a light and see if anyone can guess what you have drawn from the resulting picture!

A good one is:

"Watch Dave drop the *istDS he gave you 10 minutes ago in a sink with the hot tap running, and see how many expletives he can come up with in 5 seconds"

Luckily I had quick access to a microfibre cloth and camera survived, working perfectly... but his face was all "I can't believe you just broke my new camera" for about 15 to 20 seconds

I havn't played that game, however the K7 'laughs in the face of' sinks and running taps (providing there is a WR lens attached)!

Glad the camera was OK though.
