I know Kris (Womble) is still having a love affair with his Horseman.
I just wish he would scan a nice 4x5 example and post the result. Just to make all the Digicam devotes humble again.

Ohh thanks for that. I mainly shoot B&W, partly because I like it, and partly because colour is expensive (Fuji Provia is 2.70 a sheet!).
Malo... when I get a shot I am really pleased with I'll post it. Somewhat reduced of course (the scans come out at about 120mgb). Unfortunately the weather hasn't been conducive to the Horseman lately. My main problem is D&P as the darkroom at work is very busy and utterly filthy. Neither is conducive to good quality developing. I am thinking of buying some BTZS ("beyond the zone system") developing tubes so I can do them at home.
I wish I had some film ready when the snow hit. Shots like the Shetland pony one would have suited the Horseman down the the ground.
Best wishes, K.

It is an illusion that photos are made with the camera… they are made with the eye, heart and head. Henri Cartier-Bresson
Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

Trouble is, Kris, I bet the ponies were/was an unexpected find. It would be mad to cart round the Horseman, tripod and blue bath towel just on the off-chance! But you're right: imagine a 125mgb image of that scene!

Not that unexpected as that tree is just out front of where I live! In general, however, the Horseman is not the most portable of set-ups. The "Titan" tripod alone weighs a tonne. The Shetland pony shot was taken about 20 minutes after this shot for which I had left the camera on the tripod and popped back indoors to collect the 50mm f/1.2.
I am at bit fixated on using the Horseman to photograph churches, I must expand my horizons a little.
Best wishes, Kris.

Are you still using the bath towel Kris?
I thought you would have invested in a nice black drape by now.
Nice tree by the way, I must have missed that.
Note to self: check gallery more often!

And there was me thinking you'd battled against an Artic gale, knee-deep in icy drifts...
But you just popped outside!
Oh well, both still great photographs.
Tell you what, Kris, with a tree like that within lugging distance, you could take a month by month set of pictures from exactly the same spot with the same lens, like your covetable (is that a word?) f:1.2... something I've always wanted to do but it really has to be adjacent and outside of my gaff there's just another semi or twelve whixh all look the same, more or less, all year.
Could be an interesting project... and a lovely set to exhibit in,say, a local church hall.
Best wishes,
Andrew

Actually, that would probably do it, Martin. Kris could make larger prints then... arrange them in a square.
Any other ideas for organising his photography for 2101?

Blimey, Kris. You could do it back then too! Long before my time.
They're wonderful. All of them. And what amazing weather. The window is the sort of thing that I try to do.
