Any Ideas?

Yesterday I loaded my K200d with a brand new 8gbLexar SDHC card, formatted the card in camera and took a series of 123 images. All shot in AV mode. I tried to review the images on the screen and got an error message "Camera cannot display this image"
Supposing a faulty card I replaced it with a second new card and after a further 43 images got the same error message.
I returned to an older card, which recorded and reviewed O.K.
Since this happened, whenever I review the images they look extremely dark although the downloaded images are fine, including those from the Lexar cards. Images shot in manual mode do review on camera fine,i.e.they look correctly exposed
Is an 8gb card too big or have I done something remarkably stupid?

You got the latest firmware update for the camera installed.

Also format the cards in the camera, that might also sometimes help.

Good Morning, Stefan & Snappy
As far as I can see on the Pentax Website there are no firmware updates for the 200d and I did format the cards in camera.
Can't understand what went wrong. Blaming the cards was perhaps a last resort but, apart from using a maximum of 4gb previously, I did nothing differently.
The images are on the cards it's just I can't review them. Mind you, I spent years doing the same with film,so just like old times.

Is the camera capable of addressing cards of that size?

Yes the K200D support SDHC without any problems so it isn't that.

I'm out of suggestions...

What if you format the cards again in camera and try again?
I know that camera's can be very picky with that...

Your firmware should be V 1.04 to be the latest.
It is not AFAIK available from Pentax UK, but it is available from Pentax JAPAN.
File you want is k20e104w.exe, and a quick Google should find it.
I think it includes something aboutr memory cards.

Thanks, Geoff,
Downloaded the file number you gave me, but I've got an update for the 20D. Is that the one I need or am I missing something?
Don't want to blow things completely.

And for all you others that tried to help me with monitor problem, DOH!! I had done something remarkably stupid,

Dialled in 3 stops under and didn't notice. Should have gone to Specsavers!!

Don't use that update! It is for the wrong camera.

The latest firmware for the K200D is v1.01 which you can find here.
It provides improved stability for some SDHC cards, so if you don't already have it tit is worth a try.
You can see which firmware version you have by pressing the Menu button as you turn the camera on.

Where did you buy the card?

Plenty of fakes about that behave very strangely, especially from Ebay and Play/Amazon private sellers.

O.K. Geoff, Downloaded but not used. I'll get Gwyn's download and use that. I'm still on v1.0

Mike, the cards came from 7 Day Shop.I've never had a problem with their offerings before. As I said, the cards did record, just couldn't understand why the error message came up after so many exposures and I had reviewed some, if not most, of them.

If i understand it corectly he has shot some photos with his camera and was unable to review them right away so it never came near a computer so i doubt they will be at fault then...
