Hi,

I`m just considering buying a wide angled autofocus lens for my Z1p.
It needs to be sharp and good for shooting architecture, no barrell distortion.
Has anyone had any working experience with these lens?
- PENTAX 20mm/f2.8FA (500$),
- PENTAX 24mm/f2.0FA (380$),

Are they worth the price? I`m willing to buy them in USA internet shop.

Thanks!

I haven't used the 24mm, but I have the 20mm and find it to be very good, though not cheap.

Hi,
I have the 20/2.8A lens which has the same optics as the FA one and find it to be a superb lens with very little distortion. I bought the MF version because I felt that it was better built and with such a wideangle and large depth of field, I prefer MF and find it quicker.

Thanks,

And what do you think about the price (for the 20mm) - 500$ ?

I saw that 20/2.8 A version is actually more expensive!
It costs ~750$.
Why is ther such a huge difference in price?

I paid about $400 for mine a few months ago, but they are hard to find, so $500 may be acceptable.

I think the newer lenses are manufactured using a higher degree of automation than the old, hence the lower prices. As for quality, I can't say. You can't beat the silky focussing of the older lenses, but the aperture rings on my FA lenses turn more smoothly than the ones on the A lenses.
