Hi there,
is there anyone in the Forum who can advise me if the Pentax O-RC1 remote control will work with the K20D?

Many thanks.

I'm sure it will. Since the non waterproof version works with most Pentax cameras, including the K-5, I can't see why the new waterproof version wouldn't work with older Pentax models.

Welcome to the forum Mike.
As far as I know it should work. I got one from feeBay for next to nothing and it is working with my Samsung GX-10 (same as the Pentax K10D) and as the K20D is the 'big brother' it should be working. I know you can actually buy packages of Pentax D-SLR with the Pentax O-RC1 included so I can not see why it should not work.
Kind regards

It's nice to be nice!

Pentax K-5 with D-GB4 Grip, to many lenses to mention by now (serious LBA by now), TC's, Lowepro Slingshot 300 AW, Manfrotto 028 & Redsnapper RS-283 with various Heads plus various Camera Clamps (I collect them). Pentax AF 360FGZ, Pentax AF 240FT, several Metz 45 CT-1 & 5 with stands and 'Blow Up' Soft Boxes, Flash Triggers, and various Macro gear.

Just got this back from the Pentax Support team:
"Dear Mr. Breewood,

Thank you for your enquiry.
Unfortunately this remote is not compatible with K20D.

When replying, please make sure this email is included.

With kind regards,
Pentax Digital Camera Support Team"

So it looks like it's the Remote Control F for me!

I was going to suggest you contact Pentax Support, but then thought
maybe Gwyn and SmutjeUK have read something I haven't

It does list the K-7 and K-x though which also work with the earlier
remote so I would be very surprised if the "FIRE" button doesn't
work with the K20D, the other two buttons probably won't do anything.

Just a cheap one off ebay works just as well.

If you really want to know.... ring SRS

I'm shocked.

I thought the F had been discontinued.

I really can't see why the O-RC1 would work with a K-5 but not a K20D when the F works with the K-5.

I know it has extra buttons - those are for the likes of the W90 though.

Maybe you should go for a cheap generic one from e-bay though. Especially if waterproofing isn't important.

How strange. I was using one with a K20D in the shop today! Just the shutter button works (the orange one). The other buttons control functions such as zoom on compact cameras.

Pentax need to have a serious look at their websites.
It's supposed to work with the W80 as well, but it's
not on the list.

Thanks to Algernon,Chris and Gwyn for the extra input. I guess the Customer Support people are being ultra cautious! Anyway, I'll see how I get on with the F. I may end up with the O-RC1 anyway as I also have an Optio W60...but I'm waiting for the Customer Support guys to confirm if the two are compatible.

Thanks again for all your contributions - I'm new to this Forum lark and it's been a great introduction!

TBH in my opinion the 'normal' Pentax Support is just a pain and always was. I always try to get through to a 'technician' and call rather then sending an e-mail where I do not know how knowledgeable the person actually is that answers the e-mail. They may simply read from a screen and just give you this kind of standard reply rather then a more detailed one.
Call SRS and have a chat with them. My gut feeing is that you will get exactly told what you need to know as those guy's and gall's there are 'more hands on in the technical sense' then a computer operator that probably does not even know of hand what cameras are on the market.
Kind regards
